Moving in Gurgaon: Why High-Rise Rules Matter
Shifting homes in Gurgaon is unlike moving in any other Indian city. From Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension to Sohna Road and the Dwarka Expressway, over 80% of residents live in multi-tower gated condominiums governed by strict Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) and professional facility management firms (like JLL, CBRE, or Colliers).
If you fail to complete the required paperwork 48 hours prior, security guards will turn your loaded moving truck away at the main gate, resulting in demurrage charges and immense stress. Here is the exact checklist to ensure smooth passage.
The 4 Golden Rules of Condominium Shifting
1. The 48-Hour Prior RWA Intimation & Digital Pass
Submit your rent agreement/possession letter to the estate manager. Raise a digital "Move-In Pass" on MyGate, NoBrokerHood, or ADDA. The RWA will assign you a dedicated time slot for vehicle entry.
2. Security Deposits & Move-in Fees
Most societies charge a refundable move-in deposit (₹5,000 to ₹10,000) to cover common-area damages (e.g. scratches on lift panels or corridor walls). Some societies also charge a non-refundable shifting facilitation fee of ₹1,000 to ₹3,000.
3. Sunday and Night-Time Restrictions
Never schedule a move in Gurgaon on a Sunday. Nearly all premium societies prohibit cargo moving on Sundays and gazetted holidays. Standard operating hours are strictly Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
4. Basement Truck Height Clearance
Standard container trucks (11 ft high) cannot enter underground basement parking with a 2.4-meter height limit. First Choice stations dedicated low-clearance shuttle vehicles or hydraulic hand-trolley crews to bridge the distance between the surface loading dock and your tower's service elevator.
